VC Kissan Advisory Board flags off farmers group | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 17 : Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans, Vice Chairman, Daljeet Singh Chib today flagged off a group of 33 farmers from different districts of Jammu Division to attend seven days training programme under Prime Ministers Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), Ludhiana (Punjab). The visit is being organized by Department of Agriculture, Jammu under training component of the Sub-Mission for Agriculture Extension (SMAE). Interacting with farmers the Vice-Chairman referred to the "Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan" envisaged by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi under which awareness generation about various Centrally Sponsored Development Programmes is desired at village and panchayat level for benefit of farmers. He said that the State Department of Agriculture under the stewardship of Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura is taking various initiatives and adopting various key Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) like Soil Health Card Scheme (SHCS), PMFBY, PMKSY, NFSM, NMSA etc envisaged for the betterment of farming community. Director Agriculture Jammu Dr S S Jamwal while speaking on the occasion said that the 7-days training will give farmers an overview of various technologies of irrigation and moisture conservation and growing less water consuming crops. The training will also educate the farmers with latest precision water application devices like drips, sprinklers etc to produce more crop per drop. Joint Director of Agriculture (Input), Jammu, Sectoral Heads, Chief Agriculture Officers and other officers of the department were also present on the occasion. |
