Orders preliminary inquiry SVC detects nexus in Jammu University | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 26: On the basis of the merit of the complaint and the secret verification conducted in the matter, the State Vigilance Commission has asked the Vigilance Organization to initiate regular preliminary inquiry into the allegations levelled against two engineers of Jammu University. Earlier, the Commission had received a complaint about the misusing of official position and University funds by Suresh Sharma and Akash Bhola, both Assistant Engineers, working in Works Department of Jammu University, for their personal gains. The complainant has also alleged that the concerned engineers hand in glow with the contractors Karam Chand, Sonu Mahajan and Suresh Kumar have drawn the payments of works despite knowing that substandard material that too in less quantity was used in construction works by the contractors. It further alleged that advance payment was made by the engineers to the contractors for construction of MBA building prior to starting of work in violation of prescribed norms. The secret verification got conducted by the Commission in the matter prima facie revealed nexus between the concerned engineers and contractors, who in league with each other have drawn payments dishonestly for their personal gains. The report further reveals that substandard material that too in less quantity has been used in construction works. In view of the gravity of allegations levelled against University engineers, the SVC directed the Vigilance Organization to conduct a regular preliminary enquiry in the matter so that persons involved in this scam are punished. |
