TD provides relief to transporters | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, May 12: The Transport Department J&K gave major relief to the transporters by implementing GOI Notification No. SO 41(E) according to which tolerance upto 5% has been allowed in the gross vehicle weight for the purpose of compliance of sub section 3 of section 113 of the Motor vehicle Act 1988. A goods vehicle carrying 5% additional weight over and above the permissible Gross vehicle weight shall not be considered as overload and thus shall not be liable for any fine by the Motor Vehicle Department. Earlier even an extra load of 50 kgs invited a fine of RS 2500/- which was very harsh for the transport sector which is already under intense pressure and is not a profitable venture as it used to be earlier. RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh informed the notification has been implemented as per the instructions issued by the higher authorities. This was a genuine demand of the Transporters which was under examination of the Government of India and after considering all the aspects, the Govt has issued this notification. |
