| BJP MLC loses party post for indulging in 'lobbyism' | | | ET Report
srinagar, May 12: Taking strong note of the lobbyism within the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) the Jammu based (BJP) MLC, handling Kashmir affairs, has been sacked. BJP has appointed district
incharges leaving the MLC red faced, who allegedly failed to deliver as Kashmir incharge.
Sources said the decision to sack the BJP MLC handling Kashmir affairs was taken due to him not living up to the expectations of the party high command. "After being sacked by the party high command the MLC, who hails from Jammu, is asking the Kashmir based leaders to put a word so that he is given the charge of any district," sources claimed.
On Wednesday the MLC donated an ambulance in Budgam district and tried to prove that he is working on the ground. As the MLC was busy donating an ambulance in Budgam, leaders of another faction along with the PHE and Irrigation Minister Chaudary Shyam Lal and the BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir were holding a public Durbar at Ganderbal. Different functions were organized by the BJP office bearers at different places to drive home a point that they are the "masters of their destiny."
"The MLC was sidelined and post of the Kashmir incharge was abolished as the MLC failed to strike a chord with the people during his tenure as Kashmir incharge. Nor could he keep the party leaders together," said a source.
He said, "At present Kashmir BJP unit is a divided house. There are too many lobbies which are working against each other. One lobby cannot digest another one."
"Darkshan Andrabi has been given the charge of Srinagar district while Khalid Jehangir has been made the incharge of Ganderbal district and senior ministers have been nominated as heads of different regions across Kashmir," source added.
They said the Jammu based MLC despite being relieved of his job is in touch with the a few Kashmir based leaders and is asking them to use their influence to somehow keep him involved with the party affairs in Kashmir. "Many BJP leaders like the MLC in question have lost the ground in Jammu and they want to be in Kashmir," source added.
He said, "Maximum Jammu based BJP leaders these days are in Kashmir to save themselves from the scorching heat. They are indulging in cosmetic exercises to make the party leadership believe that they are busy building the base of the party in Kashmir."
Sources said the MLC is eyeing Budgam district and is using all his influence to become the in charge of the district and he has reportedly even promised favours to some people in the party if they succeed in persuading the party high command to get him nominated as incharge of any district in Kashmir. |
