Govt to review policies approved by Guv | | | Saqib Junaid Early Times Report srinagar, May 12: While the Governor Rule evoked widespread appreciation over the slew of measures during its three months rule, the leaders of the ruling PDP and the BJP government believe that some of the controversies emerged in the recent past because of some of the policies implemented during the Governor Rule. The Governor's rule took slew of measures and the efficiency it showed in taking swift decisions on important pending issues attracted appreciation. However, the government is these days facing various controversies with the ruling parties trying to distance themselves from them and apparently blaming the Governor Rule. Deputy Chief Minister, Nirmal Singh, whose party has been on the fore front of eroding Article 370 on Thursday said some policies that were during implemented during Governor's rule especially New Industrial Policy needs to be reviewed. The Deputy Chief Minister made these comments in North Kashmir after there were reports that the new Industrial Policy for Jammu and Kashmir allows non-state subjects to get on lease the land for setting up industries outside the industrial estates in the state and the policy was approved during the Governor's Rule. Similarly, Education Minister and Government Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar during a press conference said Government would review the New Industrial Policy 2016 that was recently approved by the Governor for next ten years. When asked about flaws in the Industrial policy including issue of providing land on lease to the non-subjects, Naeem said that the coalition government was firm to preserve the special feature of the state. "It came to our notice that the Industrial policy 2016 that was recently approved during Governor's Rule comprised of certain things which requires government's attention. Let we see if some other sectors like horticulture that can be accommodated within the policy's domain," Naeem said. This is not for the first time when the PDP-BJP have distanced themselves from the decision taken during the Governor's Rule. According to the reports, Governor had approved Sainik Colonies in the state. However, the government said no such decision has been taken. The Jammu and Kashmir State Administrative Council (SAC) headed by the Governor N N Vohra in March approved the new advertisement policy. "Government will also revive it there are so many loopholes in the policy. The Government is caught in controversies over the decisions taken by the Governor during three months," a senior PDP leader said. Earlier in the first inning also PDP-BJP Government was marred by different controversies and alliance was more concerned about ideological and political standpoints rather than delivering basic governance. |
