HC directs Govt to transfer old DC office complex to judiciary at Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 27: A high court division bench of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey and Justice B S Walia today directed the government to issue appropriate orders to transfer the old deputy commissioner's office complex at Kishtwar to judiciary in consultation with the court's registrar general. The bench also directed that on shifting of DC's complex to newly constructed block, it should be ensured that the old complex was not used for any other purpose except for providing space to judiciary. The court directive came in a PIL filed by Bar Association, Kishtwar (BAK). The senior AAG submitted that the government would abide by the chief minister's instructions and the advocate general's assurance and there was no question of deviating from them. He said since it would take some time to shift the DC office to new block, the complex as on date could not be transferred to judiciary. After hearing both the sides, the bench directed government to issue appropriate orders for transferring the old DC office complex, Kishtwar, to judiciary in consultation with the high court registrar general. "After DC office is shifted to new block, it shall be ensured that the old complex is not used for any other purpose except for providing space to judiciary," the court ordered. The bench also directed the government to file fresh status report with regard to the directions issued today within four weeks and asked registry to list the PIL after ensuing summer vacations. |
