Hails SF publicly but secretly campaigns for their withdrawal from schools | Mantri's dichotomy | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 26: The minister in PDP-BJP coalition seems to have become a classical example of doublespeak to wickedly meet his personal interests. In the latest, on one side, he is public supporting the role of security forces in tackling the unrest in Kashmir, but on the other hand, he is allegedly secretly asking some forums to seek withdrawal of paramilitary from schools in the restive Valley. With no let up in protests in Kashmir since July 8 when militant commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his two associates were killed, the government was left with no options but to bring in around 200 additional companies of paramilitary Border Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force to the Valley to tackle the crises. In the absence of any proper accommodation, the Jawans have been given have proper civic amenities. Given the fact that the schools have been closed since the day unrest erupted in Kashmir, the presence of security forces was not hampering any educational activity. "The additional deployment of security forces, on the other hand, is scheduled to leave back to their respective headquarters once the situation improves in the Valley," said a senior official. But this development has not gone well with the minister, who said his "permission" was not sought by the administration before giving accommodation to the security. This is despite the fact that he doesn't happen to be Home Minister, someone who is genuinely supposed to be in know of such security issues. "Now given the ego problem, he wants the security forces be withdrawn from schools and given accommodation elsewhere. But that he cannot openly counter his government, he has started a proxy war," said a senior official in know of the matter, pleading anonymity. Insiders said the minister recently instigated two "public forums" in Kashmir to issue statements seeking withdrawal of security forces from the government schools. "This way killed two birds with a stone. One upheld his ego against accommodation given to the Jawans without his knowledge. Two to pretended before the people that he was with them and not with the government," insiders said. They said though the minister pretends to be "more loyal than the king", New Delhi has got to know about his doublespeak. "The statements seeking withdrawal of security forces were in news when Union Home Minister (Rajnath Singh) was in Kashmir. This was deliberately done so that the visiting dignitary takes note of the matter. But the fact is that presence of security forces in schools is not disrupting any education but will in fact help in restoration of normalcy which in turn will lead to resumption of schooling," official sources said. It was reliable learnt from insiders that New Delhi has been informed about "minister's wicked moves." Despite repeated attempts the minister couldn't be contacted for comments. |
