Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 3: Legal eagle and Chairman Kashmir Policy & Strategy Group Ashok Bhan has urged the visiting All Party Delegation to Kashmir headed by Home Minister Raj Nath Singh to urge the security forces to forthwith stop usage of pellets as the crowd dispersal means.
Addressing a seminar at Union Capital today he said, pellets have injured thousands and almost 100 people have lost their eyesight including the 4 & 5 years boys and girls. Use of pellet resulting in loss of eyesight is the blatant violation of Human Rights, he added.
Parliamentary delegation in order to set right the unrest, shall have to acknowledge the political nature of the K-imbroglio and address the political aspirations of the people of Kashmir along with that of Jammu & Ladakh regions. The continued unrest, violence & the death and destruction being suffered by the common people has brought Kashmir on the edge and the Parliamentarians have to rise above partisan party politics to help resolution of the imbroglio through democratic means. Bringing about the peace in the Valley should be the first and foremost concern of the entire political spectrum across the Country and tangible structured talks with every stake holder is imperative, Bhan added.
During the seminar the topic of which was" Way forward in Kashmir", Ashok Bhan, said paying attention to Kashmir by the Parliamentarians will be politically beneficial and in the People"s interest. Dialogue with all the stakeholders, the agitating youth and the civil society becomes important. This is the same Youth whose participation in the elections made a huge difference as such are the most important component of the political process. The new age agitation is not taken an aggression but an assertion of the demand for lasting and permanent solution of the issue and end of the cycle of death and destruction.
Kashmir has been on burn for more than 27years. Tens of thousands of people, from young to soldiers lost their lives and population of Kashmiri Pandits exiled. It is the time for a holistic political process to kick in,drawing from past efforts and adopting best practices from around the world on resolving such unrest.
Law makers of the Country needs to approach the issues keeping in sight the fact that India"s strategic interests are intertwined with the good will of the" Valley"s ordinary people and not the land alone. Before the new age violent upsurge yet again gets out of hand, He appealed the visiting delegation to recommend to Govt. of the day that New Delhi needs to deal with the issues in hand with a grand vision.
