113 Land disputes decided in four month period | | | Early Times Report ramban, Sept 3: RAMBAN, Sept 03: To provide speedy justice to the people the revenue courts of district Ramban has intensified the process of disposing land dispute cases. The DC,s court individually has disposed 46 cases from May to August recording the highest one since the inception of district. As per the statistics, 22 cases were cleared from DC's court in August and if month wise detail of the last 8 years is compared no such achievement was recorded where normally on an average only 2/3 cases are instituted per month. A case titled Brij lal Vs Mohan Singh of Seri Ramban was instituted in 2009 and after seven year decision was given to the party on merits by Deputy Commissioner and similarly some cases under trail since 2010 were also disposed after six years. Data shows that so far as district revenue courts are concerned, 52 cases are under trial at ADC court, 82 in ACR Court, 08 at SDM office Gool , 21 with SDM Banihal and no case is lying in the court of SDM Ramsoo. Similarly at Tehsil level revenue courts only 41 land related cases are available including the highest in Tehsil Banihal and only two at Pogal Paristan. Out of all these total 315 cases, 113 have been decided so far in four month. An official of the Deputy Commissioner's court said "over 134 cases were under trial six month back in the DC's court out of which all were related to land and the total number of 46 cases have been disposed in very short tenure thereby giving a boost to the pendency clearance. In next 4/5 months all left over cases shall be decided". The main objective of pendency disposal is to provide speedy justice so that the land rights of the people are safeguarded besides reducing unnecessary harassment and economical losses inflicted on them. However, Financial Commissioner Revenue in the month of August while convening the meeting with revenue officers also appreciated the process set in for mammoth increase in the disposal of cases from the revenue courts thereby fostering the seeds of transparency and accountability in the administration. |
