Admn fails to fulfill promises made with people after Sept 14 clashes | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Oct 17: Even after a gap of more than one month, the district administration and police have failed to fulfill the promises made with the people here after the September 14 clashes. During violence on September 14, miscreants had damaged a few shops, besides setting on fire two shops in the old Rajouri town. The trouble had started over confusion over the identity of a sacrificed animal on eid day. After damage to their shops, people had refused to open their business establishments till the arrest of culprits by police. People had also demanded immediate installation of CCTV cameras in all the sensitive areas of the town and also erect flood lights in the entire town. On the assurance of PHE minister Sham Lal that the stringent action would be taken against those involved in violence, people had opened their business establishments. While police had later arrested nine miscreants, several others were still absconding. "More than one month has passed but neither the administration has installed flood lights and CCTV cameras nor police have arrested the remaining miscreants", said Yog Raj Sharma. Reliable sources said police were facing problems in laying hands on the miscreants. that senior police officers at Rajouri facing many hurdles in apprehending some influential miscreants. A senior police officer had also hinted at slapping of PSA on a few miscreants. Curfew was imposed in Rajouri Municipal areas on September 14 after clashes had broken out in the town. "The process to install CCTV cameras and flood lights is under progress," said Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Shabir Ahmed Bhat. |
