Huriyat (M), JKLF didn't authorize Geelani to head present crisis | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Fissures within Valley's separatist camp are widening everyday after amid the current unrest with Pro Pak Hurriyat Hawk Syed Ali Geelani turning desperate to discredit Huriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF cheif Yasin Malik. Sources privy to the development divulged that Geelani's recent party handout about Mirwaiz and Malik authorizing him to head the current unrest was in actual a mere hoax and the duo didn't actually accorded any autharization to the 86-year-old separatist. It was informed that Mirwaiz sent Geelani a detailed message after he and Malik were detained by the JK Police and were imprisoned. Mirwiaz, according to the reports, asked Geelani, in his message, to take care of the current unrest as he along with Malik can no longer speak to people due to their detention. Sensing golden opportunity in hands, Geelani went Public and declared support from Mirwaiz and Malik to head the current unrest. The handout issued by Geelani's amalgam declared that the Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwiaz Umar Farooq and JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik have given full authority to Syed Ali Geelani to take a stand over the current unrest and lead it from the front. Reports, however, inform that no such authentication was ever issued by Mirwaiz and Malik to Geelani and Mirwaiz's message was a mere information to the octogenarian. Geelani through such a notorious coup has strived to appease his Pakistani masters about him standing tall against all the present day separatists in Valley and it is he who is at the helm of affairs. "He has spent his entire life in the struggle of being number one. When he was in Jamaat-e-Islami he never wanted to be sidelined and always broke the official protocol. Even when he was member of the Legislative Assembly here, he wanted to remian in limelight all the time. at present as well, he wanted to undermine all. Infact he is now playing the last innings of his separatist career," said a separatist worker of the rival organisation. Interestingly, in 2008 unrest, Geelani played a great game against other separatist leaders in Kashmir. While addressing people at TRC, Geelani at that time too told people that he alone represnts them and there is none else who has the ability in Kashmir to be peoples' leader. Facing heat from the separatist leaders then, who warned Geelani of boycotting him, red faced Geelani had to eat his words in a hurriedly convened press conference at his Hyderpora residence. At present, when Kashmir is reeling under the constant curfew for more than three months, Syed Ali Geelani again has set the ball in motion while striving to place himself on the top of others. His great coup against Malik and Mirwaiz has, however, caused, ripples within the separatist camp with JKLF and Mirwaiz's supporters openly expressing disgruntlement against the aged separatist. Though Mirwiaz and Malik have asked their cadre to remain silent and give befitting reply at an appropriate time, the situation, on ground, continues to remain hostile for Geelani. "In Mirwaiz's message, Geelani has sensed the great opportunity to become skipper of the present unrest in Kashmir. Now it is upto Mirwaiz and Malik about how the duo would get the lost ground back," says a Kashmir based columnist. |
