NMC appeals PM to release pending DA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 10: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) President Subash Shastri today appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce and release the pending installment of 5% DA due from January 1,2018 in favor of the employees/pensioners of the Centre as well as the state governments in view of increasing inflation and price hike of essential commodities and take decision in this regard at the forthcoming meeting of the union cabinet. In a memorandum sent to the Prime Minister, Shastri while giving facts and figures said the price index which was 6.89 per cent in June30, 2017 has now increased to 11.49 per cent in December 31,last year. The rate of compensation was revised every six months based on average of the consumer price index for previous months. He said prices of all essential commodities had gone up; there was no justification on the part of the Central Government for withholding this installment for their employees and pensioners. In the memorandum Shastri also expressing grave concern over the non-acceptance of the very important recommendation of the committee headed by Union Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa, he further appealed Modi to immediately accept this recommendation of the committee in which committee have recommended minimum pay scale of the lower class employees to rupees 21,000 per month adding that no decision in this regard has been taken so for which has added to miseries of the salaried class and pensioners also. Hailing the Prime Minister as a strong leader with a decisive mandate Shastri said that the country has never felt as powerful as today and same is due to Narendra Modi vision and policies, Shastri hoped that Central Govt. will accept this recommendation of the committee at the earliest added that some recommendation s of the 7th pay commission have not benefited the lower class of the employees both central/state governments. Shastri further appreciated the announcement of the Central Govt., raising minimum wage of daily rated workers to rupees 350 per day, though it is still insufficient the present flow of inflation, demanded enhancement of the wages of daily rated workers to Rs 500/- per day, yet Shastri urged the NDA Govt. at the centre to implement the same throughout the country simultaneously so that working class would get sigh of relief from rising price and inflation. Total exemption of DA under income tax, enhancing income tax limit to rupees five lacs and setting up of National Wage Commission for evolving national pay policy thorough out the country were other demands highlighted in the memorandum. |
