Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 10: Due to pressure of the Hurriyat Conference and other anti-national groups usually indulged in damaging public property, PDP-BJP government referred JK Public Property Bill to the Select Committee. From the day one when PDP-BJP government has prepared this Bill, Hurriyat leaders and other groups have launched a campaign to oppose this move because passing of this Bill would keep a check on those always indulged into damaging public properties during strike. During 2010 and 2016 turbulent hundreds of government schools were burnt by the stone pelters. This Bill was aimed at checking some elements but unfortunately BJP members could not take stand and the Bill was referred to the Selected Committee. According to official handout, The Bill to amend "Jammu and Kashmir Public Property (Prevention of Damages) Act 1985" (LA Bill No: 9 of 2018) was today referred to the House Select Committee. As the Bill was introduced in the House by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, on behalf of the Chief Minister, Legislators Ali Mohammad Sagar, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Nawang Rigzin Jora, Mian Altaf Ahmad, Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Altaf Ahmad Wani and others opposed it and demanded its referral to the select committee for further discussion. Responding to the concern of the Legislators, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs announced that the Bill will be referred to the House Select Committee. |
