MJR-47 hails Govt move reservation for Paharis
2/10/2018 11:09:47 PM
Early Times report

Jammu, Feb 10: MJR-47 in it's executive committee meeting held today appreciated the move of the Govt. to take a bill to enact law to give reservation in job to the Paharis speaking and economical weaker and under-privileged people of the state of the state.
It was along pending demand and the Govt. has taken a bold step to uplift these sections in the state. It has also given a fill-up to the economically weaker and under-privileged populace who were not covered under any other reservation category to look forward for a brighter future for their wards.
It was noted with deep concern that though the criteria for weaker and under-privileged section of families has been defined with a cap on annual income of Rs 1 Lakh, the identification of Pahari speaking is not clearly defined. The people belonging to all mountainous areas from Uri to Doda, Kistwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi and Udhampur are all Pahari people and their spoken language come under Pahari group only. Also people of areas now under POK including those who were displaced in 1947 i.e. DPs of 1947 and are living in this part of the state are all belonging to the Pahari language speaking groups. This need to be taken up with a serious and justifiable outlook.
MJR-47 expressed deep concern and though the reservation for employment quota has been long pending demand of DPs of 1947 from POKJK and this had been accepted by state govt. and state cabinet in 2014, had recommended a package to Govt. of India to give reservation in employment to wards of DPs of 1947. But unfortunately the state Govt. itself has not taken any action in his own state and ignored such benefits to DPs within the state till date.
MJR-47 expects that the state Govt. will certainly take note of this injustice and will not deprived DPS of 1947, a major pahari speaking and most under-privileged in the state while finalising this bill in the assembly. Besides, J.S. Sudan Convener MJR-47, S.Suchwant Singh, O.P. Khajuria, Dr. Padam Dev Raina, K.L. Sudan, Dalip Singh, Jaswant Singh, Raj Kumar Sharma and Dr. Ram Lal Sharma also spoke in the meeting and expressed their deep concern. on this issue.
