Srinagar, Feb 11: Lal Bazar today claimed to have arrested a habitual drug peddler and recovered around 1 kg charas from his possession. Police spokesman said that today a routine naka was raised by SHO Police Station Lal Bazar, SI Riyaz Khan under the supervision of SDPO Hazratbal DySP Rameez Bhat, at Moulvi stop, Srinagar. Spokesman further said that during naka checking an individual was observed moving suspiciously, when apprehended he tried to flee but was detained. He was identified as Bashir Ah Dar of Veer, Bijbehara, Anantnag. "On his personal search a bag was recovered containing huge quantity of Charas, approximately 1 KG", said spokesman adding that the accused was arrested on spot and contraband items were seized. The accused is a habitual drug peddler who procures charas from different areas and sell it to youngsters in Srinagar. The huge quantity of drugs seized from his possession itself speaks about the gravity of his illegal actions. In this regard, a case under FIR No. 12/2018 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Lal Bazar and investigation taken up. This is in continuation to the efforts of Srinagar Police to fight against the menace of drug abuse and drug peddling. |
