Jammu, Feb 10: The Government Maulana Azad Memorial (MAM) College organised a visit of the Geology students to the Wadia Museum of Natural History (WMNH), University of Jammu. The students got an opportunity to explore the geological treasures exhibited in the museum. They were excited to have hands-on experience of a variety of rocks, minerals and fossils, especially the elephant's skull (Elephas namadicus). Dr. Mateen Hafiz (Asstt. Professor, Govt. MAM College) and Rahul Magotra (Lecturer, MAM College) briefed the students regarding the geological history of the Himalayan region and the contribution made by eminent Indian geologists in establishing the geological foundations of the Himalayan region. The students gratefully acknowledged the Principal of the Govt. MAM College; Dr. C.K. Khajuria (Head of the Geology Deptt., Govt. MAM College); and Dr. B.A. Lone (Curator in WMNH) for facilitating this visit and enhancing their knowledge in the practical geology. |
