| Militants escape in Hajin during CASO | | |  Mohammad Sarfaraz

BANDIPORA (Hajin), Feb 26: A joint team of security forces on Monday called off a search operation in a Hajin village in this north Kashmir district after the militants managed to escape from their cordon.
Sources said that security forces launched cordon and search operation (CASO) in Bun Mohalla today early morning after there were inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
Soon after the CASO, there was an exchange of fire between militants and forces as militants managed to escape, sources told early times
Sources said that there was an intense clash that erupted between youth and security forces and they fought pitched battle for hours together, adding the youth pelted stones on government forces who retaliated with tear smoke shells to disperse the youth from the spot.
A civilian Riyaz Ahmad of rather mohalla Hajin was also injured during the clashes that broke out in Bun Mohalla area of Hajin in this north Kashmir district, sources informed.
It is pertinent to mention here that an army soldier was injured on Feb 22, after militants had opened fire on cordon and search operation party in Paribal village in Hajin area.
A top police official had maintained that there were inputs about the presence of militants in the area, after which a joint team of security forces including 13 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) police, and SOG had launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area. |
