| JKPCC stages protest against 'unkempt' lanes, drains, parks | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 26: Congress workers of Jammu East led by Vikram Malhotra- General Secretary JKPCC held a strong protest at Municipal Complex Jammu against the unhygienic condition of lanes, drains, parks and other areas of Jammu City.
Hundreds of congress workers holding banners and play cards in their hands assembled at Municipal Complex, Upper Gummat Jammu amidst raising slogans asked Municipal authorities where is Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. They also submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner JMC.
Speaking on the occasion Malhotra said that spirit and essence of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan launched by the central government is being mauled by JMC. A visit to various wards of the old city will accentuate my allegations. He said there are heaps of garbage lying in the streets, the menace of stray dogs and their excreta adding to the already unhygienic conditions also poses a threat of rabies from dog bites which are a common occurrence.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan has become a mockery for the people of Jammu City. The usage of plastic bags is rampant the drains are clogged. |
