VCT appeals NHRC for disbursement of compensation to victims of Pak shelling | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 1: Members of Viklang Chhatra Trust (VCT) have appealed the National Human Rights Commission to direct the state government to compensate the victims of Pak shelling as per the enhanced rates approved by Union Cabinet in its meeting held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Narindra Modi on 24th August 2016. In an appeal to the NHRC, Satya Pal Saraf, organizer VCT OCS said that enhancement from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh was widely publicized by the national leaders including the MOS PMO on various occasions but has not been implemented for the benefits of innocent inhabitants of LoC and International border in Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu Samba and Kathua districts even after a lapse of one and a half year.. He said that most area of Jammu and Kashmir adjacent to Indo-Pak Border & LoC have been witnessing intermittent incidents of cross-border firing causing fatalities of human beings and maiming them thereby rendering them incapacitated for attending any kind of pursuits for whole life due to grievous injuries thereby inflicted, besides loss of immoveable property and live-stock etc. |
