Theatre groups to hold 'Weekly Theatre Series'

Jammu, Mar 5: All Jammu theatre groups including actors and directors today met at Abhinav lawns to chalk out strategy for the Jammu Weekly Theatre.
Nearly 21 groups of Jammu and their representatives, besides performing actors and directors unanimously decide to convene their consent to Aziz Hajini, secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to roll out the Series as soon as possible.
The frontrunner theatre groups like Natrang, Rangyug, Amateur , Samooh, Shivani , Rangshala, Yamini, Bhoorang, Performers et.al, gave a unanimous consent to participate in the series , modalities for which will be taken up later after meeting the Culture Secretary .
The participating groups, actors and directors also suggested on certain issues to streamline the conduct of the weekly theatre series like choice of scripts, frequency of participating actors under different groups and getting the permission of the playwrights.
Also it was decided that Weekly Theatre series, since not being a competition conducted by Academy under certain guidelines should be free of certain rules which may act as impediment to the smooth conduct of the Series.
Though it was unanimously approved by all the participating groups in the meeting that State Culture Academy will be nodal agency to conduct the Series, the performing groups and artists may be left with a choice to make a harmonious adjustments among themselves for free and fair conduct of series like exchanging makeup artist, music composers, lightmen so that series is not affected adversely.
Those who were present on the occasion included Kumar A Bharti, Kusum Tickoo, Mohan Singh, Umesh Singh , Rattan Doshi, Sapna Soni, Anuroop Pathania , Aditya Bhanu, Neha Lahotra , Sunil Sharma , Saurab, Rohit Bhat and Seema Sharma.
