| Seven day NSS camp concludes at MIER | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 5: A seven day annual camp of NSS volunteers concluded today here at MIER College. The camp was held at Bhatiyari, the adopted village near Bishnah on the theme "Youth for Sustainable Development with Special Focus on Watershed Management and Wasteland Development."
The camp was formally inaugurated by Dr. Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER wherein she blessed the volunteers and said that the NSS Unit of MIER is one of the oldest units and has been vibrant and active. She appreciated the zeal of the volunteers for social service and exhorted the volunteers to develop a passion for community service and acquire necessary training to shape the future of the youth of the country.
The camp was organized under the leadership of Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, NSS Program Officer. Fifty volunteers from the different departments of the college participated in the camp. The volunteers were made aware about the objectives of NSS and the purpose behind organizing the camp.
A rally was also taken out on the theme "Anti-Alcoholism" in Bhatiyari village.
Rally was flagged off by Surjit Singh, Sarpanch of village Bhatyari along with Panches and locals. Students carried banners, placards and posters highlighting information and issues regarding ill effects of alcoholism. They tried to spread awareness regarding consequences of alcoholism amongst the general public and interacted with the local business community and shoppers en-route. |
