| GDC Udh organizes students visit of Salal Power Station | | |  Early times Report
Jammu, Mar 5: Government Degree College for Boys, Udhampur organized visit of students to Salal Hydro Electric Power Station, Reasi. The Department of Business Administration, Govt. Degree College Udhampur organised a visit for the students of BBA 4th and 6th Semester at Salal Hydro Electric Power Station, Jyotipuram Reasi, a unit of NHPC (Govt. of India Undertaking). Salal dam also known as Salal Hydro Electric Power Station is a run of the river power project on the Chenab River in the Reasi District, Jammu Division. The purpose of the visit was to introduce and familiarize the students with the power generations process and potential of hydroelectric power in the state of J&K. The visit was facilitated by Gursharan Singh Assistant Manager HR Department NHPC Reasi. The students were overwhelmed by the team membesr who provided them with relevant information about power generation process and they also came to know about the turbines and generators installed at the site. The power station employees informed the students that the unit has installed capacity of 690 mw and also gives 12% of the power generated to the J&K State Govt. Besides this the project also gives employment to large no. of people and also shares a part of its revenue with the state government. The power from the project is transmitted to northern grid from where it is distributed to the states of J&K, Punjab, Haryana etc.
