| 15 years RI, Rs 1 Lakh fine to Charas smuggler | | |

Jammu, Mar 6: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul today awarded 15 years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs one lakh to Mohd Yousaf Ganie @ Mohd Yousaf Ganaie, S/o Ghulam Hassan,Ganie, R/o village Shangus, P.O. & P/S Achabal, Anantnag in charas smuggling case from whose possession, 6.2 KG charas was recovered on January 31, 2014 at Railway Station Jammu by NCB.
The judge after hearing both the sides observed that use of narcotics by youth is increasing day by day. This increase is because the narcotics are easily available. The youth who get addicted of narcotics spoils not only his own life but of his family also. This affect of the use of supply of the narcotics by such people is required to be discouraged and discouragement of such persons can be achieved only by imposing appropriate sentence and awarded 15 years RI and fine Rs one lac for the offence under section 8/20 NDPS Act and in default of the fine he shall undergo further imprisonment for a period of six months. |
