Congress to get serious about liberating India of BJP rule
3/7/2018 10:26:22 PM
The Congress has decided to stop ridiculing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, because describing Modi's Government as "Suit Boot ki Sarkar" has been rejected by the voters in the North Eastern States. Though the sound performance by the BJP has given a drubbing to the; letthis but the Congress has not done well. It has lost Tripura and may lose Nagaland and Meghalaya where it candidates were outclassed by the BJP candidates. And the defeat of the congress in three states has squeezed Congress strength to four states which is under its rule when for years to get her it had ruled the centre and had party in power in various states. Such is the state of affair in the Congress that its leaders feel dazzled and lost. And this is the time for its leaders to act and rethink on new policies. And programmes related to promotion of agriculture, alleviation of poverty and resolving unemployment will received congress attention. Though the Congress talked about agriculture and those in the rural areas in the past but since it lost power to Modi its leadership has lost interest in such issues with the result voters have rejected the Congress candidates. And the party in the opposition may hold a plenary session of various leaders from different states where it would frame and reframe its policies to woo voters. It wants to emulate Modi whose slogan was "Congress Mukt by saying "liberate India of the BJP rule." Bharat"
And the Congress has taken some decisions right now so that it is ready to face the electorate in the General elections and in some states. And ahead of polls in some states and the 2019 General Election, the Congress has decided to make up for its mistakes and focus on issues related to agriculture, employment and poverty as it prepares to take on the ruling BJP, party in the future polls. For the Congress's plenary session, to be held between March 16 and March 18 in the National Capital, a separate resolution will be passed on issues related to agriculture, employment and poverty alleviation. During the last plenary session in 2010, agrarian and employment issues were part of the economic resolution. The Congress has also formed a nine-member sub-group on 'agriculture, employment and poverty alleviation' under the chairmanship of former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Party leader Meenakshi Natarajan is the convener of the sub-group. Since the Congress is aware of the distress the farmers are faced with in the country currently, it may announce some measures to redress their grievances as part of its plan to shake the BJP from its slumber.
Given that the agrarian crisis has deepened, it warrants passage of a separate resolution that will guide the party's future activities on this line. This, however, is not the first time that the party will have a separate resolution on agrarian and employment-related issues Resolutions to this effect had been adopted in 2001. Though the Congress was not able to regain power in Gujarat but its good performance in the shape of securing 40 seats was seen as a feather in the cap of the new Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, But the poor performance of the Congress in the North Eastern states is a reflection on Rahul Gandhi who is seen having gone to Italy to meet his mother's mother as a way to remain unconcerned about the imminent loss of the Congress in the state elections. And Rahul Gandhi should take things seriously because by having a cup of tea of lunch with houses of Daliots has not helped his party. His slogan that Modi is a "suit boot ki sarkar" has not gone well with the voters. This way senior Congress leaders have been advised to stay away from ridiculting or denigrating Modi whose charisma is still intact.
