Early Times Report Kupwara, March 7: The residents of Shumnag hamlet in North Kashmir's district Kupwara are forced to avail health care services at the Medical Centre running from single unhygienic room. The health centre is functioning in one rented room with one bed, no toilet or washroom and is without proper medicines and machinery. "There is no bathroom, no water and electricity supply available at the centre. We have to manage in the absence of basic needs," said a female health worker. "Here we are giving first Aid treatment nothing else. The health department has sectioned new building but it is incomplete," said a senior pharmacist. According to reports, the condition of the Sub Centre is highly dilapidated. The glasses and window panes are also damaged. According to officials in the health department, a new SHC was sanctioned for Shumnag area in the early 2000s. "Work was started on the project in 2015 but still is incomplete," the locals said, adding that the Sub Center is functioning since 1996. Block Medical Officer Trehgam Dr Nissar Ahmed told Early Times that the centre was sanctioned new building few years ago but is still incomplete. "I have visited the sub centre and talked to the construction agency, they assured that they will complete the building in next one month," Dr Nissar said. |
