Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 7: Youth from various Panchayats and villages of Akhnoor held their important meeting at Akhnoor today. The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the issue of district status for Akhnoor. The meeting was chaired by Atul Sudan (State Vice President JJSF) where as Abhisheik verma presided over the meeting. In the meeting it was unanimously decided by all to support the demand of the district status of Akhnoor. Addressing the youth Atul Sudan said that technically, geographically and demographically Akhnoor deserves to be granted as districted status. Reciting the facts he said that there are three sub-divisions (Akhnoor, Khour, Chowki Choura), Seven Tehsils and 19 Niabats in Akhnoor at present. He said that Akhnoor is area with many backward areas and people are residing very far and thus it is very difficult for them to visit Jammu district office for their works to be done. He said that in area Akhnoor is having larger than Samba, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Shopian Districts and in population also Akhnoor has much more population than Kishtwar, Ramban, Samba, Ganderbal and Shopian districts. He said that according to the number of administrative units, area and population which is much more than many districts in J&K Akhnoor technically deserves to be the district. |
