| GDC Paloura organises seminar on 'water safety, conservation and sanitation' | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 7: A college level seminar on the topic, "Role of the youth in promoting water safety, conservation and proper sanitation" was organized by National Development Foundation with sponsorship from Communication and Capacity Development Unit, Department of PHE, I & FC in Govt. Degree College Paloura. Principal GDC Paloura Prof. Asha Gupta was the chief guest during the programme whereas Executive Engineer PHE Jammu City I Er. Himesh Manchanda was the guest of honour.
Thirteen students participated in the seminar and expressed their views on importance and ways of water conservation. The seminar was witnessed by approx. 150 students. Prof. Sunita Gupta, Dr. Meenakshi Bandral and Sabina acted as judges during the seminar. State was conducted by Mumtaz. Rohit bagged first position, Momen Malik bagged 2nd position and Mumtaz bagged the third position. Two consolation prizes were also given to the students. Prizes and certificates were distributed among all the participants. Water testing through Field testing kits was also demonstrated among the participants. Participants were also sensitized on water conservation, rain water harvesting and hygienic practices. A pledge on water safety and security was also taken by all the guests and participants. Executive Engineer Himesh Manchanda also interacted with the participants. Principal, Prof. Asha Gupta speaking on the occasion stressed on the importance of saving the sources of water around us. She called upon the students to ensure safety and security of water resources and other water bodies. She quoted the examples of various water sources and ponds of Jammu city that have lost their existence. |
