JAMMU, Mar 7: Department of Civil Engineering, YCET held an extension lecture on "Urban Planning & Development" for the students of 6thsem, Civil Engineering. The eminent speakers were ER. Iftikhar A. Hakim, (Director, Planning & Coordination) BE REC Srinagar, MA Urban Planning U.S.A. ER. Rajnish Magotra (HOD Civil) welcomed the speaker& said that the event was organized with the belief that Urban Planning can lead to 'Planned Urbanization'. The event started with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony.
During the lecture, Iftikhar highlighted the various aspects of Urban Planning & Urbanization. He also threw light on various issues at geographical level, Run-off, Precipitation & Urban flooding. He extended the talk bydiscussing the Master Plans of Kashmir & Jammu. He also discussed the first Master Plan (in 1971) & a comparative overview was given in this context. ER. Indu Lidoo (COD, Civil Engg.) took the opportunity to thank the guests & present on the occasion were Dr. Arvind Dewangan (Director), Er B R Verma (Chief Coordinator), Sandeep Malik (Dean), HODs of other Departments & faculty members.
