| Sikh community deputation meets Chief Minister | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Mar 7: A deputation of the Sikh community headed by Prof. Raghubir Singh met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and presented before her the demands of the community which has already been raised by the MLA Poonch Shah Mohammad Tantry in the recent State Assembly. The members of the deputation thanked CM for implementing Punjabi in School education denied by the previous government. The deputation said that it was for the first time in the history of J&K Assembly that the demands of Sikh community were raised by any MLA. The deputation raised demands before the Chief Minister regarding grant of minority status to Sikh community, reservation of one seat for Sikhs in the assembly and passing of the Anand Karaj marriage act in the J&K assembly as it has already been passed by the Delhi Government. The deputation has also demanded that the road from Darungali Bridge to Dehri Nangali Sahib which has been damaged during 2014 devastated flood may kindly be restored at its earliest. The Chief Minister after giving a patient hearing to the deputation assured that their demands shall be given due consideration. |
