Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 31: Describing the decision of CBSE to hold retest of class 12th Economics paper all over the country as 'unjustified' and 'ill conceived', Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and Former Education Minister today called for a review of the decision in view of lacs of students being affected by the reckless move ordered even prior to the outcome of probe.
He said that if the govt and CBSE were contemplating to hold retest of class-x math paper only in Delhi and Haryana, then what was the rationale in subjecting all economics students of the entire country to mental trauma of a re-exam without verifying the extent of paper leak scandal.
He said that how could the govt and CBSE be so insensitive as to order a re-exam for all students without ascertaining as to whether the paper leak scam had spread across the length and breadth of the country with all students being involved in the process. He said that entire students' fraternity could not be compelled to undergo the trauma of re-examination for a crime that was committed by a miniscule minority and some unscrupulous functionaries of CBSE. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Asserting that innocent students could not be victimized for no fault of theirs, Singh said that he alongwith his party colleagues and parents associations would join the protest of the students aggrieved by the CBSE decision of a retest.
He said that the students affected by such reckless decision of CBSE would not only have to relive the onerous ordeal of re-exam but it would also upset the plans and prospects of millions of students. He further said that in an age of cut throat competition, the preparations of every single day matter for the students. Seeking a through probe into the entire gamut of paper leak, Harsh Dev Singh sought proper identification of exam centres and places which were the beneficiaries of the leakgate before penalizing the entire students fraternity. He urged upon the CBSE to immediately roll back its decisions in view of massive outrage sparked all across the nation against its arbitrary and unilateral decision.
Seeking resignation of Union HRD Minister on moral grounds, Singh called for indulgence of President of India in view of serious ramifications of CBSE conduct and its extremely obhorrable order.
