Amid surge in militancy, Hurriyat gets free run
4/1/2018 12:11:19 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 31: Even as militant attacks on police and other security forces have intensified in Kashmir, the PDP-BJP government has given a free run to the Hurriyat to spread their anti-India hatred in the region.
The state's Director General of Police SP Vaid has told media persons that anti-national leaders like Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, his Hurriyat (M) counterpart Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the JKLF chief Muhammad Yasin Malik are free to go anywhere.
Sources said the decision to give "freedom" to the separatists was taken by the state government and subsequently the police was told to implement the orders.
Early Times learnt from reliable sources that the government has decided to let Hurriyat continue with its anti-national activities as a part of "understanding" between the two groups.
For the last few days, the separatists have not only intensified their ground activities but have added to hatred in their political statements.
Sources said Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik look ahead to hold joint rallies under the banner of their so called Joint Resistance Leadership to incite the people against the government.
The separatists are being allowed to propagate their anti-India venom when over a dozen policemen and soldiers have lost their lives in the recent encounters with the militants. "This freedom as granted to the separatist is insult to the blood of martyrs," said policeman on the condition of anonymity.
Observers are skeptical of the government decision of giving a free hand to anti-national elements. "At a time when the militancy is witnessing deadly rise, the government should have avoided such a move, but here it seems to be a total surrender from the side of the authorities when our brave martyrs are sacrificing their lives for the country and Hurriyat leaders enjoy freedom to roam around," said an observer.
People in Jammu believe that the BJP has surrendered before the separatist sentiment. "This is a sellout of our trust by virtue of which we had voted BJP to power," said a Jammuite.
Police has already made it clear that there would be no more restrictions on the separatists to remain confined to their homes.
