| JKNTUF extends support to Anganwari workers, helpers | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 31: J&K National Trade Union Front (JKNTUF) under the president ship of Mohd Gafoor Dar has expressed its support to the ongoing protest by the Anganwari workers / helpers demanding regularization release of their honorarium pending for last eight months, issuance of final seniority list, implementation of new pension scheme etc. Dar was addressing the Anganwadi employees at Children Park at Rajouri where these employees were holding protest demonstration. Anganwari workers and helpers were raising slogans in favour of their demands and against the government for failing to enhance their monthly honorarium and are holding protests for the last about two months.
While addressing the Aganwari employees, Abdul Gafoor Dar said that Anganwari worker is getting Rs3600 per month as honorarium while the helper is getting only Rs1800 which is even below to minimum wage (About Rs 500 per day) of a labourer in private sector. More than 60000 women have been engaged by the state government as Anganwari workers/ helpers and being a woman, Chief Minister herself has forget to mitigate their plights.
"The minimum wages for Anganwari worker and helper should be Rs 10000 and Rs6000 respectively so that their economic standard can be raised" said Gafoor.
"It is unfortunate that the state government never bothered to improve their economic condition. Policies of the state government as well as of higher authorities of ICDS are anti workers and nothing on ground has been done to improve their standard" said Gafoor.
