Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: A complete bandh was observed in Raipur-Domana on the call of Kandi Belt Movement (KBM) against illegal dumping of garbage by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). A huge protest rally was taken out against illegal dumping of garbage from Kanger Morh, Bhalwal. The rally after passeing through all main markets which included Kot Market, Jail Market Ghaink Market , Nardani Market, Raipur Main Market, Thathar Market, Keran Market, Bantalab Market, Roop Nagar Market, Barnai Market, Patoli Market, Nagbani Market, Domana Market, Purkhoo Market, Mishri Wala Main Market reached back at Kanger Morh , Bhalwal . All shops of the area remained closed as a mark of protest against the illegal dumping of hazardous garbage by the JMC. A large number of people including senior citizens, sarpanchs, panchs, students, senior members of several social organizations, intellectuals and presidents of all shopkeeper associations joined the rally and condemned the government for not considering the genuine demand of public, who are on roads for the last two months. The residents living in surrounding villages near illegal garbage dumping site are protesting but the ministers including Bali Bhagat and DyCM are not trying to find any solution towards the demand of public. Addressing the protesting people, K D Singh, chairman, KBM said that we are thankful to all Shopkeepers Associations from Kanger Morh to Bantalab and Barnai to Mishriwala and Yuva Rajput Sabha for supporting the team fighting for justice. He said this area is a residential area and dumping of garbage is in violation of rules of Pollution Control Board. He also said that this dumping of garbage is illegal and against fundamental rights of public at large. He warned that if the demand is not met the stir would be intensified and government would be responsible for any untoward incident. |
