DM orders further investigation as University authorities play truant
BGSBU sexual harassment case
4/9/2018 11:12:16 PM
Early Times Report
rajouri, Apr 9: District Administration Rajouri has handed over 'sexual harassment' case of BGSBU to police for further investigation as according to senior district officers, university management has not extended the required cooperation sought by the District Magistrate in this matter.
On April 3, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhry, District Magistrate (DM) had summoned the Registrar, Prof Shah (accused), Proctor/Warden Girls hostel and Administrative Officer for their take in the matter, but nobody turned up for the meeting and instead a letter was received from the BGSBU management requesting the DM to provide the complaints along with evidences submitted by the complaints for internal inquiry under the university domain.
On April 6 another letter was written to the University management requesting to cooperate in the investigation, which according to Dr Shahid Iqnbal Choudhry , DM, are sensitive in nature after examination of the evidences .
"On April 7, Registrar, BGSBU had a meeting with the District Magistrate (DM) and the evidences and complaints were discussed in detail. The Registrar was also directed to hear the aggrieved female faculty member" said a senior district officer.
But instead extending cooperation to the district administration, university management came out with a press release that during internal inquiry under the rules laid down for the university, all the complaints were found anonymous as the typed complaints didn't carry the name , address and phone numbers of the complainants.
"During examination of the complaints the compact disc, provided as evidence by the complainants, a Professor was found harassing girl students. During investigation police will record the voice sample of the accused and will send to FSL along with compact disc voice samples" said a senior officer
Not satisfied with the response and cooperation from the BGSBU management, district administration handed over the case to police for further investigation.
"The complaints received by the office of DM need an early redressal being sensitive in nature and in wake of the stand taken by the BGSBU management the case is being handed over to police for investigation" said a senior officer in DM office.
