| GDC Mendhar students protest for district status | | |  Early Times Report
Mendhar, Apr 9: Students of Government Degree College (GDC) Mendhar today staged protest demonstration and blocked Mendhar-Jammu Road for about three hours in support of their demands for district status to Mendhar.
Students assembled near Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar at around 12 noon and then started protest demonstration, demanding district status for Mendhar Sub Division.
After holding protest there for some time then they moved ahead on the road and stalled movement of vehicles at around 12 noon
The protesters were shouting slogans in support of their demand. They also raised slogans against PDP-BJP government for ignoring Mendhar Sub Division having three Tehsils. Student leader Mohd Asad Kayani addressed the gathering and alleged that Mendhar being largest and oldest Sub Division in district Poonch deserved the district status.
The students visited SDM Mendhar and submitted a memorandum there and the road was cleared at around 2 pm. |
