Two Indian army soldiers were martyred after Pakistan army resorted to indiscriminate firing and shelling on the Indian forward positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu division.
The incident occurred on Monday evening when Pakistan Army violated ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing using small arms, automatics and mortars. Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand, defence spokesman at Jammu, said firing started at 5.15 pm and Indian Army retaliated strongly and effectively.
"However, in the exchange of fire, Rifleman Vinod Singh and Rifleman Jaki Sharma were grievously injured and later succumbed", he said. Hailing from Village Danapur, Jaurian, District Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir 24 year old Vinod Singh is survived by his father Ajit Singh.
