CM's Grievance Cell dies! '404 Not Found'
4/11/2018 11:33:51 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, April 11: The much-hyped Chief Minister's Grievance Cell is no more active as the website dedicated for the purpose is virtually 'dead'.
The Grievance Cell, which is headed by Chief Minister's brother and Tourism Minister Tasaduq Mufti, would largely operate through website http://jkgrievance.nic.in where apart from submitting grievances, complainants would get to know about the status of their complaints.
Officials said the website would give details of each and every complaint lodged and action taken if any.
But for the past few weeks, the website has "vanished in thin year." On typing the URL for the Grievance Cell, the message is shocking. "The requested resource could not be loaded because the server returned an error 404 Not Found (?)," the message reads.
Interestingly, the link for the Grievance Cell exists on government websites like http://jkcmmonitoring.nic.in. But click on the link takes you nowhere.
This has left the complainants annoyed. "Government has cheated us in the name of Grievance Cell. What happened to our complaints? We are unable to get any response," said a delegation of complainants.
Sources said the Grievance Cell had been unable to perform properly "as those at the helm were over busy with other official assignments."
"Heading Grievance Cell was an additional assignment. But when you are too busy with your primary assignments, you are unable to take out time for secondary tasks," said a senior official in the CM's Secretariat on the condition of anonymity.
The official said the CM has been apprised about the issue and remedial measures were likely to be taken in the coming days.
Insiders said there was a lack of consensus on how to run the website and the grievance cell in future. "There's lack of consensus between some quarters, and once the issues are resolved, the cell will resume functioning. But till then people will have to bear with us," said an insider in the Grievance Cell.
Despite repeated attempts, the Grievance Cell head couldn't be contacted for comments.
