Ramban locals stage protests against Gammon Company 4/11/2018 11:40:45 PM Early Times Report RAMBAN, Apr 11: District Congress Committee (DCC) and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) along with Auto Rickshaw Union Ramban staged a protest demonstration against Gammon India Limited and district administration for causing damage to the Ramban-Maitra link road near Masjid market, here today. Hundreds of protesters led by DCC president Arun Singh Raju sat on a dharna for about three hours at Masjid Market. They raised slogans against Gammon India Limited, district administration besides local representative, for negligence due to which about 50 metre of the link road has caved in. Addressing the gathering, Arun Singh Raju condemned the company for their casual attitude in constructing the four lane on Jammu Srinagar National Highway. He threatened blockade of the highway in case the road was not restored at the earliest. He further said that the damaged road has snapped the link to the District Administrative Complex and the part of town across the Chenab for a month. "The damage to the road has not only caused difficulties to the residents and employees, but also affected the business of the auto and taxi drivers, besides the shopkeepers of Masjid market," he added. It is pertinent to mention here that the damage was caused due to the undermining of land below the link road during excavation for flyover. A three-storey shopping complex, three houses, a madrassa and a part of a mosque were also damaged. Later, the protesters dispersed after being assured of a solution within 18 days by Gammon India Limited representative. In this context a FIR under FIR No U/S 188 RPC against the Gammon Company was lodged for disobedience of order No TR/OQ/2017-18/1941-47 dated 27.03.2018 and absolute order No. TR/JC/2018-19/12-18 dated 06.04.2018.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
