No blood storage equipment in SDHs of Poonch | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, Apr 26: Sub district Hospitals (SDHs)in this border district have no facility of blood storage equipment as the department of Health has turned a nelson's eye towards its responsibilities sources said here today. They sub district hospitals in Mandi, Poonch and Mendhar have no equipment to store even a single drop of blood while the locals in these areas were afoot to donate blood voluntarily during border skirmishes and to meet exigencies when fatal accidents take place and above all for pregnant ladies who mostly fell victim to the blood loss while being operated upon they added. They said for the last five years no steps have been taken nor any awareness campaign has been commenced In the district so that the people could come to know about the importance of blood and its storage while talking Early Times chief Medical Officer Poonch Dr Mumtaz Bhatti said that the blood storing license of the hospitals have been expired and we have applied for the renewal of the same. Drugs controller is the nodal authority to renew the license he added Meanwhile, social worker advocate Tanveer Qureshi has urged the Health Department and Director Health Service to take immediate steps for establishment of blood storage with relevant equipments in SDHs which will be beneficial for the local populace during odd times, he added. |
