REASI, May 2: Department of Agriculture, Reasi organised one day Kisan Sammelan (Kissan Kalayan Karyashala) in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J), Deptt. of Horticulture, Reasi and other line departments which was attended by more than 270 farmers/farm women, Government officers and private companies etc. The objective of the programme was to aware the farmers about the strategies to double the farmers income by 2022. Ajay Nanda, Minister of J&K State graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while SDM, Katra, Neelam Khajuria as the guest of honour. Chief Guest, Ajay Nanda inaugurated the event and drew the attention of the participants to adopt the new and innovative agricultural technologies by the farmers so that they can enhance their income. He highlighted the role of farmers and science to develop a new India. He suggested the farmers to take benefits of the central and state sponsored schemes/programmes launched by the Government of India. Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi Omkar Singh stressed on the agri-entrepreneurship and said that by the agri-entreprenships farmers can raise their socio-economic status. He said that farmers should adopt the refined agricultural technologies to increase their crops production. He said that there is need to make joint efforts by all the departments for the transformation in the rural areas.
