"Making the right career choice is crucial to success" | | | S.S. Sodhi
Given the fact that roughly 50% of the children choose wrong profession under peer pressure or family compulsions, and later suffer because of wrong choices, it is very important to guide the children right from their middle school years, to let them know which subjects could take them where and also to help them explore their inherent interest and potential through tapping on their Multiple Intelligences. S.S Sodhi, Chairman, JK Intellectual Civil Society, New Delhi called on the members of the J&K Intellectual Civil Society (JKICS) alongwith parents and faculty members of different schools to express his concern over this issue. He said that there is a lot of parental & peer pressure on children during their high school years for selecting the right stream of study. He urged all members to brainstorm over the timely steps which could be taken to avoid the stress, pressures and phobias which affect the children and parents while making this very important decision of life. He asked them to workout viable strategies which could be systematically implemented in the schools to address this issue. He suggested for the conduct of workshops on career and psychological guidance to strike a right chord between the apt career choice and emotional balance connected with that choice made by the children and their parents. He also suggested the school's IT departments to develop suitable career apps to address this very genuine issue, affecting the school children today. Further, Sodhi assured his full support and help to all students and parents to enable them to make right decision for careers. |
