SP posted to keep tab on ex-minister | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 16: The state government has posted an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) in the area of a former minister especially for the purpose to check his day-to-day activities. The officer has been deputed to the area of ex-minister so that he keeps a tab on the latter's movements and provide latest updates regarding him, sources told Early Times. "An investigation is pending against a close associate of the former minister and a team probing it is headed by the SP ranked officer. The SP was particularly brought in to keep a tab on the former minister," said the sources. They said that action against the former minister's associate was initiated after a BJP minister took up the issue with authorities concerned. "Even though the former minister and the minister who was behind raising the issue against his associate are the members of the BJP, they keep bitter relations with each other. The former minister's name also popped in the police investigation against his associate but the former minister retaliated angrily against the state government by openly speaking against it which prompted the government to reinforce its authority over him," said the sources. They said the SP ranked officer who has been posted in the native district of the former minister has already served there in the past, adding that the officer whom he replaced had barely a six month tenure at the said posting which is enough to indicate that the incumbent SP, who is considered to be very close to the higher up in the state government, was sent purposely. |
