Farooq hails Centre's decision | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 16: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh on halting security operations by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir during Ramadan. He also said that this decision by centre reminded him of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's era. "It is a great step forward, I would like to congratulate Home Minister Rajnath Singh & PM Modi. This reminds me of Atal ji's era when he announced unilateral ceasefire. I welcome this," said Abdullah. The Centre on Wednesday asked security forces not to launch counterterrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir during the holy month of Ramadan. Home ministry statement clarified that the forces shall reserve the right to retaliate if attacked or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people. |
