| VO arrests SPO, head constable escapes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 16: Vigilance organization today laid a trap at police station Gharota and arrested a Special Police officer (SPO) while a head constable managed to escape for demanding and accepting bribe in lieu of releasing bovine.
Sources in the vigilance organization revealed that three days ago Gharota police rescued a buffalo and a calf and the owner of the bovine approached the court for releasing the same.
After getting release order, the owner approached the police where two cops demanded money in lieu of releasing bovine.
The complainant approached the vigilance organization and a trap was laid in the police station.
A Special Police Officer (SPO) identified as Sonu was arrested red handed while accepting and demanding bribe from the complainant and head constable Sohan Lal who was Investigation Officer (IO) in the case managed to escape from the spot.
However, the Station House Officer (SHO), Gharota was not present in the police station when the incident of demanding and accepting bribe took place. |
