Rasana's question to BJP: Where is the hitch now?
CBI probe into Kathua Case
6/1/2018 12:21:02 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 31: Statement of Choudhary Lal Singh, who had to resign, along with another BJP leader CP Ganga, from the PDP-BJP coalition government on their stand that there must be a CBI probe into the alleged Kathua rape and murder case, that the party high command (in this BJP national president Amit Shah) has accepted his stand has created a piquant situation for the BJP.
On Wednesday, Lal Singh claimed in unambiguous terms that his stand on CBI probe stood vindicated as the party high command had endorsed his stand.
"I met central leaders of the BJP and apprised them of the pain and agony of the people of Jammu region over the deliberate denial of a CBI probe. I told them how things were manipulated and an impression was created that Dogras of the Jammu region were trying to sabotage the probe being done by the crime branch of the J&K Police. We were called pro-rapist. I made it clear that I could not remain silent when my honour was being attacked. The Central leadership of the BJP has accepted that the demand for a CBI probe into the case was justified," read Lal Singh's statement.
The statement of Lal Singh has struck a chord with the agitating people of Kathua with the people of Rasana and Hiranagar asking a definite question to the BJP: Where was the hitch now?
"Where is the hitch now? You are at the helm of affairs in New Delhi. CBI is under the Union Home Ministry. You are also in the J&K Government. Order a CBI probe forthwith now that the high command has endorsed the stand of Choudhary Lal Singh," people of Rasana, especially female members sitting on hunger strike at Kootah, are saying in one voice. They are adding that "If no CBI probe is ordered even after the BJP high command's no-objection to a CBI probe, then it shall be construed as a politics of deceit, bluff and political opportunism of an extreme form".
"You cannot claim what you are claiming and not ordering a CBI probe into the Kathua case cannot on go on side-by-side. You have to prove your claim through a definite action on the ground. We commend Choudhary Lal Singh's efforts but, at the same time, BJP has to understand that eight innocent lives are at stake. The BJP has to act and act now if it really means business," they are also saying.
