CRPF driver held his nerve saved jawans from getting lynched
6/2/2018 11:05:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, June 2: Despite Jammu and Kashmir Police making no deployments in volatile Jamia Masjid area of Srinagar's old city on Friday, stone-pelters did not mend their ways and went on a rampage after congregation prayers concluded.
Nearly 500 miscreants surrounded the lone vehicle of the security forces and pelted it with stones from all the sides. They even tried to pull out the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel out of the vehicle and tried to lynch them.
The video of the incident which has gone viral on social networking sites clearly shows that how CRPF vehicle was cornered. It's clearly visible that the CRPF jawans were provoked and they could have even opened fire in self defence. The driver of the vehicle had no other option but to somehow wriggle out and prevent the situation from taking an ugly turn. Had he stopped the vehicle there was every possibility about mob attacking the CRPF jawans and lynching them and setting the vehicle ablaze. He tried to save his colleagues from the mob and in the process two persons got hit out of which one person died late in the night.
It may be recalled that in 2017 on the occasion of Shab-e-Qadr the mob had lynched the Deputy Superintendent of Police to death outside the grand mosque at the same place in Nowhatta. Unfortunately the DySP couldn't save himself from the mob fury.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "The video clearly depicts that miscreants carrying bricks and stones attacked the CRPF vehicle with an intention to corner it and pull out the CRPF men out of the vehicle. It looked like that they wanted to lynch the jawans. Miscreants knew it very well that no security forces have been deployed in the area and they can easily execute their plan."
He said, "Had the driver of the vehicle lost his nerves and stopped his vehicle causalities could have been on the higher side."
A defence analyst said that to foment trouble looked like a pre-planned move. "The orchestrators had already kept the stock of bricks and stones ready. They just waited for a chance and succeeded in their design."
He said the much hyped "truce plan" which was suggested by the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq stands punctured. "It has been proven beyond doubt that security force personnel don't provoke the miscreants. It's other way round. The miscreants always remain ready with stones to target the security forces," the defence analyst added.
He said that these miscreants have become habitual stone-pelters and PDP led government giving amnesty to them has emboldened these trouble mongers. "On one had terrorists have torn apart the ceasefire declared by the Government of India, while stone-pelters and their bosses are taking full advantage of it by targeting jawans. It's unfortunate that security force personnel have been put in a tight spot just to appease the Kashmir centric leaders and Pakistan stooges," the analyst added.
