State govt non-committal for time bound data banking of illegal foreign settlers: Team Jammu | Deportation of Rohingyas, Bangladeshis | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 10: Hailing the statement of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to prepare data bank of Rohingyas-illegal foreigner settlers in Jammu and Kashmir, Team Jammu today said that the state government must positively respond to directions of Union Ministry for Home Affairs in specific time-bound manner. Addressing executive committee meeting Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said, "No doubt advisories have been passed by the Center but here in Jammu and Kashmir there seems to be no takers as instead of initiating steps in this regards, developments are turning the other way round. While Centre has cautioned all state governments against providing documents to these illegal foreigner settlers, shockingly, certain local administrative officials in J&K are hand in glove with these foreigners and are providing them official documents like Adhar Cards and even State Subjects". Jamwal said that people of Jammu are against the settlement of Rohingyas from Myanmar in Jammu and Ladakh on strategic front. He said the civil society groups are urging the authorities to deport forthwith the illegally settled Rohingyas and Bangladeshi from the state, as they pose a threat to not only the security of Jammu province, but also to the nation. He recalled that one of the two foreign militants killed in a shootout in Kashmir two year back turned out to be a native of Myanmar and a military official called them a ticking time bomb. "An atmosphere is being created in Jammu to make the living of the local populace difficult and this is just a part of big conspiracy being hatched to force migration of people of Jammu from their own land," he said. |
