India! Stop Experimenting in Kashmir. It is Now or Never
Ravinder Jalali6/16/2018 11:01:22 PM
Not a single day passes, with out any attack or killing of security force during ceasefire in Ramzan month. Editor-in-chief of Rising Kashmir Shujat Bukhari was murdered in Srinagar after he left his Srinagar office to attend Iftaar. Another gruesome murder of a soldier Aurangzeb Khan who was proceeding towards home to join family for Eid festival was kidnapped and killed.
Four BSF security personnel were martyred in unprovoked Pakistani firing along the International border in Samba district in Jammu a few days ago. This happened after the truce announced by both the countries. It was a naked aggression and betrayed of the trust which was maintained by our forces where as Pakistan betrayed. Only a few days back two cops were martyred and 10 jawans injured in grenade attack by terrorists in Pulwama district in Kashmir valley. Government has decided to offer ceasefire and not to launch counter operations against terrorists but it was never honoured by terrorists. But the question is why they will honour unilateral ceasefire of the security forces? This has provided a golden opportunity to terrorists and their masters across the border to organise, consolidate and strength their coordinated efforts and at the same time attack the security forces and as the security forces are bound by the truce sanctity, they take advantage of it. They will make all the efforts to put down security forces and it will also release them of the pressures mounted on them by the security forces. Ceasefire has only provided them an opportunity to consolidate and can breathe easier and organise.
Now the million dollar question is why we enter in unilateral ceasefire or truce along the borderers with Pakistan. We are not dealing with Pakistan, rogue state for the first time. We are in business with them for the last more than 70 years and it is quite evident to see through all these years how they have betrayed us and as well never honoured their commitment. Whether is it Vajpayee's visit to Lahore followed by Kargill war or Modi`s visit to former Prime Minister Nawaz sharpie on her daughters weeding which was again followed by Pathnakot attack.
Earlier also 17 jawans of the Indian Army have been martyred and four fidayeen killed in an Uri, area of Baramulla, attack. This is not the first incident and is not going to be the last. Beginning of the Year 2016, seven defence personals sacrificed their lives while neutralising the terrorists who had crossed the border from Pakistan to attack an important defence installation at AFS, Pathankot. Some time before we faced same situation when terrorists struck in Gurdaspur area of Punjab. Earlier to that, terrorists struck in Kathua and Samba Distts of J&K near border. In Pathankot terrorist attack, six terrorists of suicide squad entered from Pakistan and carried the deadly act killing our seven defence personals, including a Lt. Col. while defusing a live improved explosive devise (IED) tied with the body of a slain militant inside air base complex.
These attacks have again thrown a volley of questions and doubts. How much we are prepared to face such terror attacks and also across the border? Are we fully equipped to deal with such situations? How to minimise, rather eliminate the possibility of killing of our people including our brave security personals on our soil? There are many more questions to which we have to find the answers, otherwise such attacks will continue and our men are bound to loose their precious lives and it is not an individual loss but a national loss.
How long we continue to blame Pakistan for our failures? We can no longer brush aside by simply blaming Pakistan and escape responsibility. The Govt. can not absolve itself of its responsibility. Our security persons are recruited to defend our country by killing the enemy but not getting killed themselves at the hands of our enemy and that too in home soil. Are we not fully equipped? We need to have details analysis of the handling of the crisis. I find it strange to hear on media channels that such and such person have attained martyrdom. It is a mere consolation rather self gratification and a cruel joke with the family members of deceased. In the killing of Rising Kashmir editor, again it is said that ISI is behind the killing. This way they can not escape the responsibility.
Mere condemnation of the attack and saying those responsible for it will not go unpunished will not work. They do not feel the pain and agony of their widows, children and parents. The statements like that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished are rhetoric like previous Govts There is nothing new it. But the question is when and how the perpetrators of such a heinous crime will be punished.
The problem is more at our home rather than from Pakistan. Why we fail to act? We have been experimenting new ideas on Kashmir. Government has to understand that we have been doing only experiments for the last 70 years and nothing has yielded. Whether it is ceasefire, CBM, cricket match diplomacy or track I, II … diplomacies, all have failed and are bound to fail. It is time to act and act hard and fast lest it will be only history. When the forces will be attacked by the terrorists, how they will respond?. No where in the world we can see forces retreating from the ground. Our security forces are thrashed and bashed by stone pelters in Valley and our security forces are facing the brunt as mute spectators. Now it is not in valley only, the culture of stone pelting has been seen in Jammu division also. Only yesterday it was seen in Banihal where after Friday prayers people were stoning the security forces` vehicle.
Firstly there should be no talks with Papistan (Land of Sins not Pakistan), because it has been created on the hatred against the Hindus and India. Separatists are to be isolated. They are the over ground workers of these terrorists and ISI. They are the information providers. I fail to understand why Govt. wants to talk to them and why the PDP govt. led by Mehbooba is keen to include and pressurise the GoI to talk to Huriyat? If the govt. has to talk to Huriyat, what business then the state govt. has to?
Instead of blaming Pakistan we must do some home work to find the reasons for our failures in containing terrorism. Our security persons are not fully equipped to deal with such type of attacks. We are not acting against terror but only reacting in a defensive manner. We believe in defence system and our enemy is taking advantage of it. The core issue is how the government, either State or Central, is to handle with an individual or institution, who do not accept the sovereignty of nation and challenges its integrity. It is high time for Govt. to wake up to the ground realities, stop blaming Pakistan and set the home in order as it seems that real problem is at Home.
