KBYC appeals Jammuites, KPs to participate in Kheer Bhawani Mela

Early Times Report
Jammu, June 16: Kheer Bhawani Yatra Committee appealed all Jammuites in particular Kashmiri Pandit Biradari to participate in large numbers in Kheer Bhawani pilgrimage commencing from June 18, 2018.
The Kheer Bhawani Yatra has been going on for centuries with devotees having great reverence for the shrine located at Tullamulla, about 20 kms from Srinagar the summer capital of J&K. However the yatra saw ups and downs in terms of number of devotees visiting the shrine since turmoil in Kashmir.
The Kheer Bhawani Yatra Committee in collaboration with various other organizations coordinated this Yatra since last year and the Committee is sanguine that Yatra would get extraordinary response from people all over the world in years to come. Last year the Yatra Committee under the leadership of Kiran Wattal had called upon Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at Srinagar and sought her government's support to smoothen the process of Yatra. The Chief Minister assured full support of the government and directed the concerned departments to coordinate with the Committee for providing requisite facilities to the Yatries. Even a number of her cabinet ministers visited the shrine complex to ensure maximum facilities for Yatris. This year again the Committee met the Chief Minister at Jammu along with her Advisor Amitabh Mattoo on April 26lh 2018.The Committee submitted a representation to the CM for smooth conduct of Yatra. Besides, the Committee also urged the CM to direct the concerned authority for making additional accommodation / rooms for yatris and commissioning of sewerage treatment plant at the shrine complex. The Committee also urged her to give instructions to the line department/organizations for providing necessary facilities. The CM accordingly issued instructions to concerned Govt. Departments and agencies for taking appropriate action so that the yatra is conducted in a smooth manner.
