'Party leadership crushed dissenting voices'
Rebellion in PDP dates back to Sept 2017

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 7: It was nearly a year ago when the rebel PDP leader and former minister, Imran Ansari, actually expressed disgruntlement against his party leadership in the open, but those at the helm in the party chose to ignore his pleas.
After the cabinet revamp on February 18, 2017, the two ministers Syed Basharat Bukhari and Ansari resigned from their respective portfolios. After much deliberation, the duo was asked to rejoin. Later on, both the ministers joined offices and retained their respective portfolios. However, six months later, Ansari who was IT and Sports Minister stated that the assurances given to him earlier weren't fulfilled in entirety.
In an interview with a news magazine in September 2017, Ansari quashed the reports that he had resigned due to a low portfolio accorded to him by the Chief Minister. "I did not resign on grounds of not giving me a 'fair portfolio'. I don't endorse the view propagated by the media that I had resigned over a low-key portfolio. I resigned over the issues ranging from 'development' of the state and 'upliftment of the people' I belong to. It was a personal reason and I conveyed it to the CM. Secondly, Muzaffar Baigh did tell me to re-join the rank, but the assurances were given to me by CM herself. The assurances given to me were fulfilled only partly," Ansari had said.
In a question during the interview, Ansari had hinted that the assurances given to him were not completely fulfilled. Though this Shia cleric, during the entire interview, remained tight-lipped about what the assurances were, his statement carried much weight.
Pertinent to mention that earlier, Imran's uncle and MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari had stated that the PDP was committing "big mistake" by undermining the status of his nephew. He had also accused Naeem Akhtar of ruining the Department of Education. He had then said that the employees from this department celebrated his removal. "Mark my words, like employees from Education department now the contractors and the PWD employees will hit to roads and will blame Akhtar for mess which he is going to create in the department now," Ansari was quoted by a local news gathering agency as having said.
"Our CM Mehbooba Mufti feels that both Naeem Akhtar and Peerzada Mansoor are assets to the party, though we repeatedly informed her about the anti-party activities that these two persons indulged into. Time will soon come when she will realize and show door to them," Abid Ansari had said and added that both Akhtar and Mansoor destroyed the party that late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed founded with hard work and hard labour.
He had more to say about Akhtar, the then R&B minister. According to Abid Ansari, Akhtar never supported or assisted any party legislator or worker. "Akhtar spends much time with non-party men. He is always surrounded by sycophants and mostly he is busy in appeasing BJP men. Till date, he has never solved any problem of any PDP worker. The irony is that for a 'transfer' Akhtar used to consult Commissioner Secretary," he had said.
